Bloubergstrand
Bloubergstrand, one of South Africa's more popular coastal resorts, lies about 30km north of the Cape Town city centre. The seaside village is named after the nearby hill, which the Dutch originally called "Blouberg" (Blue Mountain), because from out at sea it takes on a blue tinge. The view of Cape Town's famous three peaks - Table Mountain, Devil's Peak and Lion's Head - is classic from here in Bloubergstrand, possibly the finest from anywhere on the peninsula, and it is from Dolphin Beach that many evocative postcard images of Table Mountain are taken. Make sure your camera is loaded with film or enough memory! There is much to keep everybody in Bloubergstrand merrily entertained, from dining at one of the numerous restaurants in town, strolling along the beach, kitesurfing or swimming, to catching a Hollywood blockbuster at the cinema complex at the nearby Tygervalley Shopping Centre. Being within such close proximity of Cape Town means that all the wonderful attractions of the Mother City, from the Museum Mile to the trendy beaches along the Atlantic Seaboard are all within an easy drive.
